I am a kindergarten teacher! This is my 14th year of teaching. I have been teaching for the past 5 years at Clyattville. Elementary. Before teaching, I served as a Foster Parent to children needing love and support for years in Georgia. After earning a Childhood Development Specialist Diploma from Valdosta Technical College to understand children better, I used my knowledge and expertise to work with adolescent boys diagnosed with behavioral and mental health disorders. During this time, I realized how much I loved to inspire, motivate, and educate children, so I returned to school at Georgia Military College, acquiring my Associate Degree in Education with a perfect 4.0 Summa Cum Laude GPA score. I continued my education at Valdosta State University.
After completing the teaching program and attaining my Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education with Summa Cum Laude status, I became a certified and licensed educator. I began my career as a teacher in Valdosta, Georgia. I have also been devoted to other professional roles such as the PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) Leader for Kindergarten, a Math Collaborative Planning Leader, a member of the Science Committee, School Beautification Committee, Writing Committee, and Learning Task Force Committee.
I am also pursuing a degree in school counseling. I strive to increase equity and foster social emotional learning for all students that I may encounter. I believe that helping young learners love learning leads them to become lifelong learners. Enthusiastically, I love teaching, learning, and having fun with my students. I am so excited to serve as Clyattville Elementary School’s 2023 –2024 Teacher of the Year.
