CES Clubs
ART CLUB: The mission is to cultivate the innate talent of our FUTURE master artist. The CES art teacher makes available a variety of spectacular projects using multiple art mediums. This club is by invitation only, seeking upper grade students who exemplify a willingness to be creative with self-motivation, integrity, and leadership in the field of visual arts.
CES BEAUTY PAGEANT: Students in Pre-K through 5th grade learn the fundamentals of public speaking, modeling, and stage presence. Participants develop poise along with inner and outward confidence. Monies raised through this endeavor are used for schoolwide needs such as class field trips and PE equipment. It has been a long-standing tradition of being one of the school’s most popular and biggest fundraisers.
CHORUS: The club's mission is to promote the appreciation and performance of musical selections; members perform at FACE (Family and Community Engagement) activities. They provide entertainment for the Saturday Story-Time with Santa, and special programs for CES students. Chorus is open to all 2nd grade students.
GIRLS ON THE RUN: Using a fun, experienced-based curriculum, this organization promotes health and confidence for girls in grades 3rd-4th-5th. Girls learn endurance, self-reliance, and diligence through teamwork activities, and as they prepare to compete in local 5K runs.
GUITAR: The club's mission is to promote the appreciation and performance of guitar music; members perform at FACE events for CES students. With over 40 budding musicians, this club is open to 3rd through 5th graders.
JUNIOR BETA: The mission is to promote the ideals of honesty, service, morality, ethical conduct, and leadership among elementary school students, to reward meritorious achievement, and to encourage and assist students in continuing their education after high school. This organization is open to 4th and 5th grade students with a grade point average of 90%. In addition, students must be teacher recommended and have no behavioral records or office referrals.
MATH IS RADICAL TEAM: A club in which participants believe that “MATH is the only subject that COUNTS!” Students in 5th grade must qualify to be part of this elite team through grades, classroom performance, and testing. Through challenging practice sessions outside of classroom time, these students discover that too much leads to a greater circumference! The critical thinking skills they develop are used during math competitions within the district.
SAFETY AMBASSADORS: Members of this club help acclimate new students to their surroundings. During special events and programs, they welcome and seat guests. Ambassadors monitor hallways and assist younger students in loading buses.
STEM/ROBOTICS CLUB: Its mission is to promote healthy attitudes toward maintaining the environment and to encourage a love of science while improving science skills and concept knowledge.
HELEN RUFFIN READING BOWL: The Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl is a unique reading competition for students in grades 4 through 12. Named after a former media specialist in DeKalb County, Georgia, the competition aims to encourage reading and celebrate literacy.
Teams of students read a selection of books chosen by the Georgia Department of Education and then compete in quiz-bowl-style competitions where they answer questions about the books they've read. The competition not only tests students' comprehension but also promotes teamwork and critical thinking skills. It serves as a platform for fostering a love of reading and encouraging students to explore diverse genres and authors.
