For Families

Lowndes County Schools has recently undergone a rezoning process which changes the school that your child will attend for the 2024-2025 school year. Should you have questions or concerns, please feel free to visit our rezoning website or reach out to us at 229-316-1884.

We want you to feel welcome in our schools, and we wish for you to be a partner with us in the education of your child. This page provides some helpful resources and answers to questions we commonly receive from parents. Please let us know if there are other resources you require or if you have other questions by contacting LaVerne Rome, District Family and Community  Engagement Coordinator, at 229-316-1844.

LCS Enters Attendance Protocol Agreement

To reduce truancy and to provide a uniform set of procedures for addressing excessive student absences, the Lowndes County Schools and the Valdosta City Schools have entered into a protocol agreement with Judge James Council, Jr., and the Lowndes County Juvenile Court.

Excessive absences can trigger notifications, conferences, or referral to the Lowndes Drug Action Council Truancy Intervention Program. Further absences may result in referral to the Department of Children's Services, revocation of student driving privileges, referral to Juvenile Court, or possible criminal prosecution of the parent under the Georgia compulsory school attendance statute.

Please read: "Lowndes County Juvenile Court Protocol Agreement for Truancy in Schools."
